FONDAZIONE MAGNANI ROCCA
The Museum of the Magnani-Rocca Foundation has taken place in the spring of 1990 in the Villa of Corte Mamiamo di Traversetolo near Parma. It hosts the prestigious collection of Luigi Magnani which includes the works of Gentile da Fabriano, Filippo Lippi, Durer, Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck, Goya and of the contemporaries Monet, Renoir, Cézanne up to De Pisis, Morandi and Burri, in addition to sculptures which include a major work of Canova and two of Lorenzo Bartolini's.

In the Villa the original arrangement of the furniture has been respected to preserve a lived-in atmosphere and we encounter important pieces of furniture of the Empire period including a Thomire malachite bathtub, a gift from zar Alexander I to Napoleon and Jacob furniture.In addition to its cultural attractions the Villa is also sorrounded by a century-old-park which makes it an extremely pleasureful destination for its guest. Confortable guest-quarters are available for those scholars who are interested in the works of art, the material in the archives and in the library which is due for expansion. Warm hospitality is also an integral part of the spirit of this house which in the past has hosted some of the most important figures of the European cultural panorama; a refreshment-room is available for the visitors, where they can find the products of the sorrounding country obtained from the Foundation's farms. The aim of the Foundation is to become an active cultural centre not only for the visual arts but also for literature and music as where the wishes of its Founder Luigi Magnani, an extremely cultured man interested in the history of art, literature and musicology. |
